Emmaline runs into Dade at the record store and has a fan girl moment.

Emmaline Dade

It's quiet outside in the neighborhood tonight. Inside the record store, it's quiet too, save for the music that the clerk is spinning over the loud speakers. Emmaline is standing near the 'C' section of the records, one of her hands in her hair as the other picks up records and browses through them. She twines her hair around her hand and purses her lips consideration before putting her record back and pulling out another, perusing it rather diligently. She does it with such seriousness that it's debatable whether or not she's simply purchasing a record or making a life altering decision.

The entrance to the store soon opens and Dade steps into the store, closing the door behind him. "Evening." He says as he offers a smile and a raised hand in greeting to the clerk behind the counter before he moves towards the 'B' section of the store. His eyes glance towards the other customer in the shop before he turns his attention to the records in front of him, looking through the Beatles selection.

Emmaline seems to want to melt into the rack in front of her when Dade passes, her cheeks turning red briefly for whatever reason. She steals a peek at the records he's looking at before scooting a little closer to the end of the Bs, where The Byrds are. She picks one of the records up and takes her hand out of her hair long enough to use both hands this time. She seems to have been doing better with using just the one hand, as she drops the record she's looking at on the ground and hits her chin on the rack when she bends down to pick it up. She glances around sharply to make sure that no one has seen, but when you're in such close proximity to someone else…

Dade flips up the Abbey Road album to check the cover and the back before he tucks it under one arm before returning to the records in front of him. He glances over as the girl drops the record just in time to see her bend down and rack her chin on the rack. His eyes widen slightly in surprise. "Oh shit. Are you alright?" Yup. Front row seats to that show and more material for his show. The entire city is gonna know about this in the morning. He moves over to the girl, offering her a hand.

Emma turns a shade of bright red as she rubs at her chin, putting the record back where it belongs - almost. She clears her throat and looks up at Dade, almost making eye contact before she looks away, taking his hand to stand up. "Y-yeah, I think so. It'll probably just swell a little. Thanks." She nearly starts to walk away after this embarrassing debacle, but stops a few steps short of it, jerking back around in yet another spasmatic movement. "I… sorry if this sounds weird, but your voice sounds really familiar?" Her voice even gets a little higher when she says the last bit, though she clearly did not intend it as a question, making her blush all the more. "I mean… err, do I know you or something?"

Dade smiles as she gets back to her feet before he looks her over once, nodding once. "You should be a bit more careful. Though a little more damage and you could have sued." He says with a soft chuckle. As she starts to walk away, he starts to go back to the records in front of him, but looks back to her as she turns back around. If he notices her nervous ticks, he doesn't say anything about it. "You probably listen to 101.9, don't you?" He says as he looks back to her. "But I don't think we've met."

"Yeah, sometimes when I'm at work." She pauses, considering Dade. "Oh my God, you're that guy, aren't you?" It's clear that she's filling up with fangirl glee though she's doing her best to really conceal it. She calms herself down to the point where she can have a semi-normal conversation with him. "You always play the best stuff. I really like it. It must be cool working on the radio and playing what you want to play." She pauses. "Well, I guess what the FCC will let you play too, but…"

Dade just nods his head as he watches her as she works it out and then puts it all together. "Yeah. I am." He smirks and nods as she continues. "Yeah, it's not bad. Most of the stuff I want to play, I can't because it's not our format or the FCC's stick up their ass." He frowns slightly before he looks to her again and offers his hand. "Dade St. James."

She looks at his hand in some bewilderment as if she can't believe he's going to shake hands with her before she reaches out and takes it once more, giving it a rather gentle shaking. "I'm Emmaline. It's nice to meet you, Mister Saint James." She raises a brow at him with some curiosity. "Why can't you play it?" She asks. When he withdraws his hand from hers, she reaches up to twine her fingers in her hair again.

Dade shakes her hand before he retracts his hand. "Emmaline. That's a nice name. Unique." He chuckles as she calls him 'Mister', shaking his head. "Dade, please. I'm not hung up on the formalities." He smiles at her question. "Lyric content for the most part. If I want to play it, it's the edited version and that just blows." He shrugs, nodding towards her. "What do you do?" He gives the fan his full attention.

"Oh, yeah. I don't like censored music either. It seems like a total waste of time to try to censor anyone, especially when you can just buy the uncensored version if you really want to. I don't know why people have to make you feel like you're living in pre-Wall Russia and liking things that are different isn't okay." She blinks a minute and then blushes vividly, biting her lower lip. She flips her long curtain of hair over her shoulder. "Sorry, I didn't mean to go on a tangent. And Dade it is." Emmaline bites her lower lip again. "Thanks. My parents are, uh, a little unique themselves," she admits with a laugh. "Usually I just tell people to call me Emma. Easier that way."

Dade nods as he listens to her as she speaks and smiles. "I agree, but if I wanna get paid, I gotta follow the rules." He shrugs his shoulders slightly before he looks back to her. He smirks and nods. "Alright, Emma it is then." He says as he nods his head towards the album she dropped. "What were you looking at before you decided to beat yourself up?"

There's a pause before Emma smiles at Dade, pointing over toward section reserved for The Cramps. "Ever heard anything by them? They're one of my favorites when you're feeling irresponsible." She leans in and murmurs to him, "It's just a shame that records are so expensive." She picks up the record, titled: 'Songs The Lord Taught Us'. Mostly assuredly, they're probably not songs any lord taught them. "Kind of rockabilly, psychobilly, garage punk…" Emma says, offering him the record in case he wants to look at it too.

Dade looks to examine the section she indicates, nodding. "Yeah, I think a friend of mine was playing them a few weeks ago. I don't have anything of theirs." He chuckles and nods. "Yeah. You'd think that since they're outdated they would be cheap but since they're vintage, they can charge more than what they cost when they first came out." He chuckles again before he think and looks towards the clerk as she picks up the record. "Hey, hook her up with my discount and I'll get you the new CD of that band you always go off about." He looks back to her and then the record she offers him, looking it over. "This album good?" He asks her as he flips it over to look at the song list on the back.

Emma nods to him a little bit. "I know what you mean. Thank goodness for thrift shops though. They're a life saver. I just like to come here to make wish lists. Being a bicycle courier doesn't earn me enough money to shop even this extravagantly," Emma says, blushing a little bit. When he mentions the clerk giving her a discount, her eyes widen and brows shoot up. "Oh, I don't think I could accept that… we… we don't know each other or anything and I have no real way to repay you…" Her cheeks flare a bright red before she nods somewhat eagerly to him. "It's their first album. Garbageman is one of their signature songs."

Dade nods in agreement as he smirks. "Yeah, I agree. Nothing better than Goodwill and the Salvation Army." He waves off her decline of the discount. "Don't worry about it. It's the least I can do for a fan. Besides, this is the only place I really get discounts and it's a rare opportunity when I can pull the whole fame card." He says with a soft chuckle. "Just my way of saying 'thanks for listening'. No need to repay me or anything." He nods and then tucks the record she offered with the Beatles album he grabbed earlier. "I'll give it a listen tonight."

She blushes and grins a little bit when he mentions playing the fame card. "Doesn't it work at nightclubs, too? I mean, don't you get free drinks from women… or men… who hear you on the radio?" She asks him with some curiosity before her eyes light up like Christmas trees when he takes the album. "It would be awesome if you could play them, but I wouldn't hold my breath or anything…" She seems a little disappointed by the stark realization that he's probably not going to be able to play them, but at the same time, he's still gonna listen, right?

Dade laughs and shakes his head slightly. "Surprisingly not. Not a lot of people actually recognize the voice. He shrugs slightly and smiles. "I don't get hung up about it. I don't go out drinking much anyway and the times I do go to the clubs, it's usually for a promotion or something. Kinda takes the fun out of 'em." He chuckles and smirks, looking at her. "I'll tell you what. If I like 'em, I'll find a way to get it on the air." He pats the record she suggested. "My boss is cool and usually lets me slip something in from time to time."

"That would be awesome!" Emma says, reaching up to run her fingers through her hair again. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small, old cell phone that looks like it should have been discarded ages ago. "Oh, jeez. It's getting late… I should go. I have to be up at six in the morning to start delivering." She smiles at Dade. "It was nice to meet you. I'll be sure to listen tomorrow!" Emma says, as she starts to turn for the door.

Dade smiles and nods. "I'll see what I can do." He says before she pulls out her cell phone, offering a nod and a smile. "No problem. It was great to meet you and I hope to see you out at the next promotion." He says, offering her a wave before she heads out. "Later." He calls after her before he turns back to the albums.
